Action Messages

"Action Messages" is the place to find those national and state items that need to be brought to the attention of Districts and their Partners for possible ACTION.  There are Action Messages presented below:

Action Message 1

With the NM Legislature 2021 session ended, Brent Van Dyke, your Government Affairs Director, has provided the final NMACD 2021 Legislative Report for Soil and Water Conservation Districts in the file at the bottom of this webpage.

Action Message 2  (We still need your immediate help by Thursday, April 1st.)

PLEASE ADDRESS THE MESSAGES AND LETTERS TO THE GOVERNOR AND SECRETARY WITTE WILL HELP US GET THEM TO THE CORRECT PERSON!  In order to get all of the emails and/or letters to the correct person in the Governor's office and/or other state agencies, please send all of your messages to Debbie Hughes ( and she will send them to NMDA Secretary Witte who will help us get the requests to the correct person.  THIS MUST BE DONE IMMEDIATELY- Wednesday or Thursday AT THE LATEST!

Please ask the Governor to sign HB 89 for the Tax Option for Soil Health.

Please ask the Governor to veto SB 32 that outlaws all traps and snares on public land.  The NM Game & Fish Dept. change their rules on trapping but this bill is not allowing the new rules to work.  This bill will definitely hurt the ranchers in rural areas of their state that will not be able to protect their sheep and calves utilizing these tools.  The state’s deer and elk population will also suffer from the passage of this bill

Please also ask for the Governor to keep these appropriations and let them know why they are important to your district and/or producers.
